How can we use The Psalm Book in our worship?
This hymnal is meant for use by congregations everywhere -- these have been the songs of the people for more than 2000 years! The Psalm Book can be used every Sunday in place of the psalm, or on retreats, with youth groups, or on special occasions!
Can these hymns be used by amateurs as well as professionals?
These arrangements are simple to sing and play for children and adults, professionals and amateurs! This could be the way to get them all involved!
What style do we need to use to play these hymns?
These hymns may be sung in a very 'traditional' church style, with organ or piano, and may also be sung by praise bands, country-western bands, or a solo guitar! There are many ways of using this service... Be creative!
Are these hymns arranged for the younger generation or the more 'traditional' generation?
There are lead sheets for a praise band, folk group, or contemporary music group. There are also complete piano arrangements for every psalm. Try it, and you will find that the generation gap between the older and younger members of the church isn't as great as you thought!
Can one person lead these hymns with the congregation?
One person can easily lead these hymns, with a guitar, or with the piano accompaniment. These psalms may also be sung as anthems during the service!
How do we get kids and beginners involved?
The arrangements are easy for kids! All you have to do is ask them and they will be very excited to play among older folks, or play and sing the hymns themselves in the service! The chords and rhythms are simple... especially grouped with more experienced musicians in the church, this can be an invaluable experience in musical learning, and more importantly, reconciliation between the younger and older members of the church community. This could be another step towards keeping the children of your congregation coming to church!
When can we use this hymnal?
This hymnal may be used as part of your regular schedule or scheduled on special Sundays or occasions. This alternative music will also be a good draw for college-age kids searching for some way to find favor with the church again...
