Paul and Silas
Cynthia Blomquist Gustavson

Paul and Silas wouldn’t keep silent
Paul and Silas wouldn’t keep silent
Paul and Silas wouldn’t keep silent

Paul and Silas wouldn’t keep silent
Paul and Silas wouldn’t keep silent
Even in a locked up cell

Paul and Silas started praising
In the jail their songs a-raising
Singing in harmony their songs
Amazing others in that deep dark cell

Prisoners and jailers, hearing the sound
Wondered and felt a spirit around
Paul and Silas, they couldn’t be bound
Even in a locked up cell

Then the earth rumbled and roared
Knocked the lock right off the door
Paul and Silas said it was the Lord
Bringing freedom to their locked-up souls

Waitin’ for the earthquake, waitin’ for the fall
Singin’ out loud like Silas and Paul
I wonder, Lord, do you hear me at all,
Here in my locked-up cell

Waitin’ with patience for locks to fall
Singin’ out loud like Silas and Paul
I wonder, Lord, are you with me at all
Here in my locked up cell
