Micah is simultaneously a dictionary for old country and bluegrass tunes, and for information about the ancient agrarian Greek society. A classics major at Middlebury College in Vermont, Micah lived his last semester of college off campus, getting up at 4 in the morning to milk cows during the period he was working on his senior thesis in Classics.
Micah is currently working as a teacher in inner-city Washington D.C. schools in the Teach for America program..
Micah and Rusty (Kent Gustavson's college nickname) taught one another to play bluegrass music in a style that is entirely their own, echoing something like 19th century Appalachian music. Micah brings the songs and the soul, and Kent brings the technique and the tunes. They played in college, and in Holden Village, in the Cascade mountains of Washington state, where they both worked as cooks at a retreat center.
Micah is a featured guest artist on the upcoming release of Kent Gustavson's first solo album, Troublin' Mind, and also has a duet album called Live in Vermont out with Kent that was recorded live in his hometown of Waterbury Center, VT in the Methodist Church there, and at Holden Village.
