How can we use Guide our Feet Morning Prayer in our worship?
This service is meant for use by congregations everywhere! All parts of the service can be led by one person, or the entire choir, and may be accompanied by a praise band, a single guitar, organ or piano. Use this Matins service the way your church needs it!
Can this service be used by amateurs as well as professionals?
The arrangements are simple to sing and play for children and adults, professionals and amateurs! This could be the way to get them all involved!
What style do we need to use to play this service?
Every part of this service may be sung in a very 'traditional' church style, with organ or piano, and may also be sung by praise bands, country-western bands, the church choir, or a solo guitar! There are many ways of using this service... Be creative!
Is this Matins service arranged for the younger generation or the more 'traditional' generation?
There is a complete score arranged for choir and 4-part harmony, and at the same time, there are lead sheets for a praise band or contemporary music group. Try it, and you will find that the generation gap between the older and younger members of the church isn't as great as you thought!
Can one person lead the service?
One person can easily lead the entire service, as could an entire choir. Also, a piano or a single instrument could any one of these hymns, or they may be sung entirely a capella by the choir as an anthem!
How do we get kids and beginners involved?
The arrangements are easy for kids! All you have to do is ask them and they will be very excited to play among older folks, or play and sing the hymns themselves in the service! The chords and rhythms are simple... especially grouped with more experienced musicians in the church, this can be an invaluable experience in musical learning, and more importantly, reconciliation between the younger and older members of the church community. This could be another step towards keeping the children of your congregation coming to church!
Is this 'just' a Matins Service?
This service may be used as a Sunday Worship service, on Sundays when communion is not administered... You can also use this service on retreats, or for special occasions!
When can we use this service?
This Morning Prayer service may be used as part of your regular schedule or scheduled on special Sundays. If you have a contemporary service, perhaps you can put this service into your rotation. This alternative music will be a good draw for college-age kids searching for some way to find favor with the church again...
